Glory To The Heroes sets its battles on meticulously recreated real-world locations, built using actual heightmap data and photogrammetry. Every map in this glory to the heroes maps guide represents a specific battle or engagement from the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian war, each designed to tell a story about what happened there and how the fight was waged. Map knowledge is arguably the most important non-mechanical skill in this game — knowing the terrain means knowing where enemy snipers will nest, where vehicles will funnel, and where your FPV Operator can safely operate without anti-drone fire.
🌊 Fights for Krynky
Real location: Krynky, Kherson Oblast, Ukraine
The Battle for Krynky (2023-2024) was one of the most brutal and unique engagements of the war. Ukrainian forces established a bridgehead on the eastern bank of the Dnipro River, fighting in a flooded, marshy environment with no heavy vehicle support possible. Infantry and small boat operations dominated the battle, with both sides relying heavily on drone warfare and artillery in terrain where traditional armored advances were impossible.
Type: Infantry + Drone Warfare
Vehicles: Limited — light vehicles and boats only; no heavy armor due to terrain
Environment: Flooded marshland, destroyed urban structures, river crossings, trench networks
Time / weather: Dynamic — day/night cycle active · Dynamic — fog and rain reduce visibility and drone effectiveness
Difficulty: 4/5
Key zones
⛵ River Crossing Points
The primary insertion and resupply routes for attacking forces. These narrow crossing points are extremely dangerous — enemy Snipers and FPV Operators focus on these zones first. Crossings at dawn or during fog conditions dramatically reduce exposure.
🌿 The Marshland Approach
Wide flanking routes through flooded marshland. Movement is extremely slow, but the terrain provides significant concealment. Squads attempting to flank through the marsh must manage exhaustion and thirst carefully — survival meters drain faster in physically demanding terrain.
🏚️ Ruined Urban Core
The contested central area of the map. Destroyed buildings provide excellent cover but limited sight lines. The Assaulter role shines here — constructing fire-points inside ruined structures creates defensible urban fighting positions. Snipers and Marksmen must rely on gaps between buildings rather than open overwatch positions.
⚔️ Trench Network
Pre-existing trench networks on the map serve as early defensive and offensive positions. Capturing a trench network and immediately reinforcing it with Assaulter-built sandbags and fire-points is the highest-value position consolidation action available. Trenches protect against artillery and drone strikes more than any surface fortification.
🚁 FPV Drone Corridors
Open areas between the urban core and the river crossing are the primary FPV Operator hunting grounds. With limited anti-drone cover in these zones, drone strikes are devastating. FPV Operators should target resupply convoys and exposed infantry in these corridors. Infantry crossing these zones should use smoke grenades and sprint between cover.
Tactical tips
Fog conditions are your best friend for river crossings. The game's dynamic weather can shift in your favor — wait for reduced visibility before crossing if possible.
The flooded marshland approach takes twice as long as direct routes but avoids all major chokepoints. Squads with a Driver providing a covered forward supply point can sustain a flanking march through the marsh.
Artillery is restricted on this map due to river terrain — mortar fire is the primary indirect fire option. The Artilleryman's range is limited, making FPV Operator coordination even more critical.
Night operations dramatically reduce FPV drone effectiveness due to reduced visibility from drone cameras. Dawn attacks before the enemy FPV Operator can orientate are highly effective.
The ruined urban core has multiple elevation levels in damaged buildings. Marksmen posted on upper floors control significant portions of the map but are vulnerable to drone strikes.
More Glory To The Heroes Maps Coming in Early Access
Deaf Tone Games has confirmed that the Early Access roadmap will include additional maps beyond Krynky, each representing a distinct battle or operational environment from the Russian-Ukrainian war. Future maps are expected to introduce different terrain types including open steppe, dense urban environments, and winter conditions, which will expand the viable vehicle roster and change tactical role priorities significantly. This glory to the heroes maps guide will be updated with every new map release.

At Early Access launch, Glory To The Heroes launches with a focused set of maps representing specific real-world battles, with Krynky being the primary confirmed map. The developer has stated the roadmap includes more maps with different terrain types.
Yes. Every map is built using real-world heightmap data and photogrammetry. Krynky is based on the actual Krynky bridgehead battle area in Kherson Oblast, Ukraine, with accurate terrain reproduction.
No. Vehicle availability is map-specific. The Krynky map severely limits heavy armor due to flooded marshland terrain, focusing gameplay on infantry and drone warfare. Future maps with open steppe terrain are expected to feature full armored vehicle rosters.
Dynamic weather affects visibility for all roles — fog reduces sniper and FPV drone effectiveness, rain reduces movement speed in mud, and night conditions dramatically lower drone camera quality. Timing advances around weather conditions is a genuine tactical consideration.
The FPV Operator should operate from the rear of the urban core or from covered positions near the trench network, with a Rifleman bodyguard. The drone corridors between the river and urban zones are the primary target areas for drone strikes.
